The Department of Surgery will hold its annual Surgery Research Forum on May 18, 2022. Now in its 24^th year, the all-day event lets faculty, fellows, residents, and students share their research and will feature guest speaker Martha A. Zeiger, M.D., an endocrine surgeon who directs the surgical oncology program at the National Cancer Institute.

The audience at the forum will hear oral presentations and “poster blasts” (brief talks about selected posters) and can view a poster exhibit outside the lecture hall. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Awards will be given for the best presentations and posters, and the guest speaker’s talk is worth CME credit.

The guest speaker, Dr. Zeiger, is a professor emerita of surgery at Johns Hopkins University. In 2019, she received the Lewis E. Braverman Award from the American Thyroid Association for her contributions to thyroid research. Her work has focused on the genes, markers, and molecular biology of thyroid cancer.
