Black History Month Celebration

Join the UT Southwestern campus community for a Black History Month Celebration featuring Opal Lee, a retired educator who is known the grandmother of Juneteenth.


The event will feature an intimate conversation between Ms. Lee and Shawna Nesbitt, M.D., M.S., Vice President and Chief Institutional Opportunity Officer. They will discuss Ms. Lee’s personal journey and quest to make Juneteenth a national holiday.

  
Those attending the event will have an opportunity to receive Ms. Lee’s book, Juneteenth: A Children’s Story, while supplies last. Attendees will also get a chance to have a photo taken with the keynote speaker.

The Black History Month Celebration is hosted by UT Southwestern’s Office for Institutional Opportunity, and will include remarks from President Daniel K. Podolsky, M.D.
