History:
Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell (3 February 1821 – 31 May 1910) was the first woman to earn a medical degree in the United States in 1849. In her honor, the United States observes National Women Physicians Day each February 3rd to recognize all the generations of women physicians who are improving healthcare in the world.
