Family Medicine Grand Rounds: Conflict in Clinical Practice - A Systematic Approach (Ethics Talk)

Overview: This activity provides an opportunity to review and present what is relevant to primary care and up to date information that is applicable to day-to-day practice. We will discuss:

1. Prevalence of conflict in the clinical setting

2. Definition of conflict

3. Describe how the five modes of conflict management consciously or unconsciously take place in context of the doctor-patient relationship

4. Conflict handling modes used to manage conflict

5. To Apply the PEERS, STOP, and PAUSE acronyms as a proactive strategy for managing conflict.

Who should attend? Residents in training, fellows, medical students and other interested health care professionals and physicians at UTSW and Community primary care.
