You are invited to join us virtually at our upcoming Community Engagement Grand Rounds lecture on Tuesday, October 18th, 12:00-1:00 PM (Central) sponsored by the UT Southwestern CTSA Program’s Office of Community Health and Research Engagement (OCHRE).

Our speaker will be Ank E. Nijhawan, MD, MPH, MSCS, an infectious diseases physician and Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine and Peter O’Donnell Jr. School of Public Health. Dr. Nijhawan currently works at Parkland Hospital and the Dallas County Jail, where she provides HIV care and conducts clinical research. Her research focuses on improving HIV treatment and prevention in vulnerable and underserved populations in Dallas.

Dr. Nijhawan will present HIV/AIDS Re-entry Coalition: Impact of Community Engagement on Patient Care and Research, where she will discuss HARC, the HIV/AIDS Re-entry Coalition, which is a group of stakeholders focused on individuals who are incarcerated or recently released and are living with, or at risk for, HIV. This group was started by Dr. Nijhawan 10 years ago and has continued to meet quarterly to inform best practices around providing services to this patient population, improve communication and coordination between stakeholders and to develop and provide feedback on research projects in this area.
