 er\n\n \n\nAbout Joshua Joseph:\n\nDr. Joseph holds a bachelor's degree fro
 m Morehouse College\, where he graduated magna cum laude. He earned his med
 ical degree from Boston University School of Medicine and completed interna
 l medicine residency at Yale University School of Medicine. He then obtaine
 d advanced training through a fellowship  in diabetes research at Johns Hop
 kins University School of Medicine.\n\n \n\nDr. Joseph's research focus is 
 to understand risk factors for the development of obesity and type 2 diabet
 es in diverse populations. His group examines the role of the renin-angiote
 nsin-aldosterone system and the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis\, speci
 fically aldosterone and cortisol\, in the development of diabetes and obesi
 ty using data from longitudinal observational cohorts. He has also been wor
 king to shed light on racial and ethnic differences in the association of p
 hysical activity and other lifestyle factors in the development of diabetes
  using large multi-ethnic observational cohorts including the Multi-Ethnic 
 Study of Atherosclerosis (MESA) and the Jackson Heart Study. The hypotheses
  generated using epidemiological approaches is used to design and execute d
 etailed metabolic clinical studies to uncover explanatory mechanisms as pot
 ential targets for preventive interventions for diabetes and obesity.
