About this Event
Description: The University of Texas offers excellent retirement benefits through the Teachers Retirement System (TRS) and the Optional Retirement Program (ORP). While these mandatory plans can form a solid foundation, they are designed to replace only a portion of your income in retirement. For many employees especially those who hope to retire early additional savings can play a critical role in achieving long-term financial security.
This presentation will focus on the importance of participating in UT's voluntary 403(b)/457(b) retirement plans and how it can complement your TRS or ORP benefits. We’ll discuss the power of compounding interest and why starting early in your career can have a significant impact on the amount of income you’re able to create in retirement. Even small contributions made consistently over time can lead to meaningful growth and greater flexibility down the road.
Attendees will also receive an overview of the voluntary plan details, available investment options, how to get started, and how to use a retirement planning calculator to estimate future income and determine whether they’re on track to meet their retirement goals.
