Ethics Grand Rounds: "Undocumented Patients and Physicians: How Did We Get Here? Where Are We Going?"

Speaker: Mark G. Kuczewski, Ph.D., HEC-C, The Fr. Michael I. English, S.J., Professor of Medical Ethics and Director of the Neiswanger Institute for Bioethics and Health Policy, Loyola University Chicago, Stritch School of Medicine


Abstract:  This session will trace the current clinical ethical challenges involving patients who are undocumented immigrants to features of U.S. immigration policy. We will examine the role of physicians and health care professionals in addressing the needs of these patients at the clinic level. Moreover, we will consider the need to advocate for policy reform that supports the health and equitable treatment of these patients.
