Title: Parkinson's Disease: New Insights, New Therapies, New Hope

  • Review recent developments in management of Parkinson's disease
  • Discuss emerging therapies and evolving treatment strategies across the spectrum of Parkinson's disease
  • Review the current therapeutic pipeline for Parkinson's disease, including investigational disease-modifying therapies and emerging treatment targets

Bio:

Zehra Farzal, MD is a board-certified neurologist and movement disorders specialist at Henry Ford Health. She earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, followed by a neurology residency at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital-National Institutes of Health. She then completed fellowship training in Movement Disorders at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. She currently serves as Clinical Assistant Professor Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and Wayne State University School of Medicine.


Dr. Farzal specializes in the diagnosis and management of Parkinson's disease, tremor, dystonia, and other movement disorders, with expertise in advanced therapies including deep brain stimulation and botulinum toxin treatment. In addition to clinical practice, she is actively involved in resident education, quality improvement, and clinical research, with a particular interest in advancing evidence-based care for patients with movement disorders. She serves as the Associate Program Director for the Henry Ford Neurology Residency and is committed to training the next generation of neurologists. She also serves on the Michigan Parkinson Foundation (MPF) professional advisory board, where she helps support education, advocacy, and improved care for individuals living with Parkinson's disease in the state of Michigan.
