UT Southwestern’s inaugural First Nations Heritage Month Celebration will be held Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in D1.502 on South Campus.
The hybrid event will kick off with a light lunch reception at 11:30 a.m., featuring traditional Native American food such as white bean and winter squash soup, fry bread, wild rice pilaf, cedar-plank chicken, and more.
The ceremony will begin at noon and will feature a keynote address by Goldie Stands-Over-Bull, M.D., a board-certified family physician at Texas Native Health and an enrolled member of the Crow Tribe in Montana. Dr. Stands-Over-Bull is passionate about promoting patient autonomy and delivering culturally appropriate care tailored to the needs of her diverse patient population.
The celebration will feature a performance from the Anoli Dancers, a family of world champion performers of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.
The event is hosted by the Office for Institutional Opportunity.
