Mark L. Bennett, MD, MMHC
Associate Professor, Vanderbilt University Medical Center
Quality & Safety Director
Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery
Don’t take our word for it that Dr. Marc Bennett is an outstanding surgeon. He’s listed among the nation’s top doctors by both Castle Connolly and US News & World Report.
Dr. Bennett, an assistant professor of Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery, also serves as quality and safety director for his department at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. To help him fulfill those responsibilities, he has taken leadership courses as well as the Intermountain ATP course for quality assessments.
But he believed he needed more. “I want to understand more about finances and financial decision-making, and hopefully be able to transition into increasing leadership roles,” Marc says. “I also would like to play an active role in the quality and safety world.”
Along with what he has learned about economics and finance, Marc credits the MMHC program with improving his skills in team organization, conflict management and decision-making. “The group is very cohesive,” he says of his classmates. “You work with multiple groups and understand how to interact with different personality types.
“It has been a wonderful experience. It is hard work and a serious time commitment, but I have learned a lot about business and myself.”
