About Kaustav Shah:

Originally from New Jersey, Dr. Shah holds a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering from Duke University. He then worked in management consulting prior to obtaining his medical degree at Vanderbilt University. He then completed internal medicine residency training at UCLA.

During his NCSP fellowship, he is studying how health care professionals interact with electronic health records. He is investigating how emerging informatics tools powered by artificial intelligence and machine learning can be leveraged to drive quality improvement while also promoting physician and nurse wellness. He is also developing pathways that ensure these tools are developed with diverse patient data and that they do not propagate existing biases or inequities.
