"The Global Effects of COVID-19 on Health-Focused Research"
Over the past year, the COVID-19 pandemic altered the way that research is conducted globally and especially in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs). Investigators have adapted to numerous restrictions and policies enacted to contain the pandemic, including the reduction of healthcare workforce capacities, implementation of travel restrictions, and reallocation of resources to combat COVID-19. Additionally, it significantly impacted patient care by not only limiting treatment options for chronically ill patients but also by affecting clinical trial operations.
However, the pandemic also provided an opportunity for researchers to seek out new ways to conduct their work and expand into different fields.
This panel of esteemed experts will provide insight into this by sharing their diverse real-life experiences and highlighting the challenges and successes of their initiatives in conducting research during a global pandemic.
