"Engineering Human Host Defense Proteins to Combat Infectious Diseases"

Speaker:

John Albin, M.D., Ph.D.
Infectious Diseases Physician
Division of Infectious Diseases
Massachusetts General Hospital

About John Albin:

Dr. Albin holds a doctoral degree from the University of Minnesota, where he also earned his medical degree. He uses chemical approaches to develop peptide-based antibiotics, including antibody-bactericide conjugates for the modulation of known antimicrobial agents and synthetic evolution of peptides for the derivation of novel antimicrobial peptides. In this work, he specifically targets Pseudomonas aeruginosa, an opportunistic pathogen that commonly affects immunocompromised hosts, including those with cystic fibrosis and neutropenia.
