About Mike Landzberg:

Dr. Landzberg received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and completed internal medicine residency training at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center. He then obtained advanced training through a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

A nationally recognized leader in adult congenital heart disease, Dr. Landzberg has spent more than three decades shaping care for patients once thought unlikely to reach adulthood. He played a central role in establishing the Boston Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) and Pulmonary Hypertension Program as a joint venture between Boston Children’s Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital and led the program for more than 20 years as it grew into one of the busiest ACHD programs in the world. Over the course of his career, he has trained dozens of cardiologists who now direct ACHD programs across the U.S. and internationally.

As patients with ACHD began living longer, Dr. Landzberg recognized that extending survival alone was not enough. To address the emerging need for end‑of‑life planning, serious‑illness conversations, and symptom‑focused care, he completed a fellowship in palliative care medicine, an uncommon step for a senior cardiologist. He now integrates palliative principles into ACHD practice, advocating for care that aligns medical decision‑making with patients’ values and goals across the full course of life.
