Intersex: Implications of Umbrella Terms in the Interest of Science

Upon completion of this activity, the RN will:

Have a better understanding of the controversies surrounding the 2006 Consensus Statement on Intersex classifying individuals within three categories of DSD.

Be in a position to identify the historical background that has supported a classification system.

Comfortably expand the concept of fully informed consent to identity within the umbrella term DSD/Intersex. 

Apply educational and research methodologies that would allow for identity and individuality to normalize.

This activity provides 1.0 CNE contact hour.
