About Christina Herrera:
Dr. Herrera earned her medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons before completing both her residency in obstetrics and gynecology and fellowship in maternal‑fetal medicine at UT Southwestern. She later earned a master’s degree in clinical investigation from the O’Donnell School of Public Health.
Her clinical and research work focuses on placental disorders, including placenta accreta spectrum, preeclampsia, and fetal growth restriction, with particular emphasis on how imaging and genomic tools can improve diagnosis and management. She leads multidisciplinary research using novel magnetic resonance imaging and genomic techniques to study placental structure and function in both healthy pregnancies and those complicated by chronic hypertension.
