Weight Wellness Day is an educational and outreach initiative of UT Southwestern Medical Center’s Nutrition and Obesity Research Center (NORC). The UT Southwestern NORC is one of only 13 such centers nationwide and is supported by funding from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases within the National Institutes of Health. The UTSW NORC supports research infrastructure, enrichment programs, and collaborative activities focused on the causes, prevention, and treatment of nutrition- and obesity-related diseases.

This session will explain, in clear and accessible terms, the medications many people are hearing about for weight management, including Wegovy, Zepbound, Ozempic, Mounjaro, the new oral Wegovy, and other emerging therapies. Attendees will learn who these medications are intended for, how they work, expected benefits beyond weight loss, common side effects, and what a typical treatment plan may involve.
